Re-pointing
Re-pointing is a process of renewing mortar joints in brickwork. It is done to remove voids in the joints, caused due to weathering and decay. If left unattended, constant freezing/thawing and salt deposition can cause irreparable damage. Pointing can have a lime mortar or a cement based mortar. Our brick doctors have necessary expertise in both cement-based pointing and lime-based pointing. We take every precaution to ensure that no damage is caused to the wall whilst doing the re-pointing work, especially where cement-based mortar has been used initially during pointing. We design new mortar that matches the colour, texture and other characteristics of the existing mortar for ensuring great results.Cleaning and Re-pointing:
Our experts try to avoid any intense cleaning program such as sand-blasting, as it can cause irreparable damage to your walls. We, however, brush off the white coating (from the mortar) from any new work. Our professional cleaning would make an extraordinary difference to your property. Cleaning is followed by re-pointing, if needed. We make use of the latest technology dust-free cut out system to remove the old mortar.Brickwork Repairs and Pointing:
We offer brickwork repairs for spalled bricks. It is a common phenomenon that occurs when moisture gets frozen. The water expands and causes the outer layer to flake off. The situation worsens when the it have been treated with some chemical or paint in an attempt to reduce damp. This is because it prevents the moisture from evaporating, causing more damage. We have a range of solutions to the problem of spalled bricks as well as that of cracked depending on their severity. The most effective solution is to make a stained mortar from lime and crushed brick and patch the damage. Our experts may also cut a brick 'slip', a slice of brick, which is then mortar into the hole. If the problem is too severe, we chop out the whole and replace it. We take extra care when cement-based mortar has been used.Contact Us NOW
